Candidate Engagement.

Time has certainly moved at a brisk pace, FY2023 brings a return to normalcy as we reflect on another year at CFA Society Melbourne. The dedication and time commitment from the Candidate Engagement volunteers, and CFA staff cannot be overstated. This annual report serves as a thank you to the remarkable progress we have made this year, with the goal of enhancing the experience for Candidates as they progress through the CFA Program.

 New Initiatives:

  • The Welcome Orientation for Level 1 Candidates: As Charterholders and Candidates of old can attest, the CFA Program can feel like a lonely journey, especially from the outset. The Candidate Committee wanted to change that by adding a personal touch. Together with the Sydney, Perth, and Brisbane Societies, we ran a Welcome Orientation for Candidates starting the Program. We saw a staggering attendance at the webinar and a high level of engagement from candidates during and post the event. We plan to run this initiative regularly throughout the year to help candidates from the onset of their CFA journey.

Recurring Events:

  • Speed Mentoring: We will once again host a Speed Mentoring event in October in Melbourne. This event was sold out last year, with 40+ candidates who were able to receive mentorship and guidance from distinguished CFA Charterholders. We expect this years’ event to be just as successful. Candidates and the volunteer Charterholders rave about the experience and the opportunity to connect after the protracted period of operating fully online.

  • Opening Doors: In July, we were pleased to launch our Opening Doors event for female candidates. The event provided female candidates with the opportunity to ask in-depth questions to our panel of CFA Charterholders, learn essential career building skills and grow their network.

  • End of Year BBQ: There is nothing better than a sunny afternoon BBQ in a park. This event continues to be a hit every year and we fully intend on running it again in December. A casual BBQ with music and good conversation.

CFA Societies Australia – Candidates

Our LinkedIn candidate community group transformed this year into the CFA Societies Australia – Candidates page. The community now boast over 1,580 members at the time of writing. This online community is for the candidates to engage with the Society. It is used by the society to share information around exam announcements as well as upcoming events. Thank to the CFA staff and volunteers that continue to manage the page. I also encourage candidates to feel free to reach out to us via the LinkedIn page should they have any questions.

Looking Ahead:

As we look to the future, we remain steadfast in our mission to build a community of enthusiastic and engaged CFA candidates. Our strategic vision continues to bring us back to that goal. We have ideas for new initiatives in the pipeline so keep an eye out for them. Thank you to all candidates for their continued support and enthusiasm.
